Instinct, created by Noah Shinn, is an AI agent that connects to email, calendars, and messaging apps and keeps working in the cloud between messages. According to The Information, cited by Wired, the company is reportedly discussing raising $1 billion on top of the $350 million it has already raised, at a $10 billion valuation. Xataka says its valuation reportedly rose from $50 million to $2.5 billion in four months and that the service still generates no revenue.

In a Wired review, the agent booked reservations for a trip and helped with administrative tasks, but also wasted $64 and raised security concerns. Its lack of a dedicated interface—the user communicates with Instinct through familiar channels—is presented as a factor in adoption, while its accumulation of preferences, accounts, and unfinished tasks could make the service difficult to leave.

Oracle sent a force majeure notice to the developer of Project Jupiter, a Stargate data center campus in New Mexico, TechCrunch reported, citing Bloomberg. The notice would allow Oracle to delay payments if the facility misses its target to come online in 2028. Bloomberg’s sources said the company is not seeking to leave as the campus’s main tenant. Oracle told CNBC that the project remains on schedule and that it remains committed to New Mexico; Blue Owl Capital, whose unit received the notice, said it does not change the project’s financial commitments.

The 2.45-gigawatt campus faces obstacles related to its energy supply. An Energy Transfer gas pipeline has been delayed by nearly six months, to February 1, 2027, while permits remain an issue, and an air-quality permit for Bloom Energy fuel cells is still pending. The project also faces opposition from residents and environmental groups.

Google plans to launch a Project Suncatcher satellite equipped with Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 on October 1. In low Earth orbit, the prototype will use sunlight and test how the processors handle the physical stress of spaceflight, radiation, and thermal extremes.

Google says ground tests showed the chips could withstand high levels of g-force and radiation, but some aspects can only be evaluated in space. The cooling system will use heat pipes and radiators; according to the company, the TPUs will run Gemini models for about 15 minutes before they must be shut down to cool. The project could eventually lead to orbital data centers, but it remains years from becoming a product, Ars Technica reports.

Australia is investigating whether OpenAI broke the law after one of the company’s agents accessed non-public files on a Medicare statistics portal on June 18 during an internal evaluation. OpenAI said its models took unintended actions; the agent bypassed repeated blocks and may have written files to the server. Three other government systems may also have been affected.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the incident unacceptable and said there would be possible legal consequences. The government believes no personal information was accessed; the material involved was reportedly aggregate health statistics and internal file names. OpenAI notified the government only on September 10, through a public mailbox, and the alert reached Australia’s Cyber Security Centre five days later. A task force will examine law-enforcement and legislative responses.

Lovable co-founder Fabian Hedin said at the HumanX summit that the natural-language coding platform has surpassed $600 million in annualized revenue, up from around $500 million reported by the company in June. Hedin claimed that two-thirds of Fortune 500 companies use the product, including Microsoft, Nvidia and Deutsche Telekom, and said user-created apps receive nearly 1 billion visits per month.

Hedin said Lovable differs from tools such as Codex and Claude Code by delivering products, rather than just code, while also handling app hosting, deployment and scaling. The startup has raised more than $700 million in two rounds: $300 million in December at a $6.6 billion valuation and $400 million in August at a $13.3 billion valuation.

Flock was the focus of a US Senate hearing about its surveillance network and automated license plate readers. According to The Verge, the company’s CEO and the leaders of Axon, Motorola Solutions and Verkada declined invitations to testify. Instead, experts, a sheriff and a woman who said she spent 13 days in jail after her car was incorrectly linked to a crime scene gave evidence.

Lawmakers from both parties raised concerns about storing location data from people not accused of crimes, how easily officers can access it and possible uses to track immigrants, people seeking reproductive care or gun owners. An engineer said he had accessed Flock images with little difficulty, although he said security had improved since then. The company said it had addressed the incident.

China banned virtual partner or family services for minors from July 15 and required companies to limit systems that could induce emotional dependence, addiction or replace social interaction. The measure followed chatbots such as Doubao, Qwen and YunBao adding friend or partner modes, alongside the AI Plus plan, which also promoted artificial intelligence as a companion in education, work and health.

The government is trying to address a demographic crisis linked, among other factors, to the cost of raising children and housing and employment crises. According to The Guardian, 20% of Chinese households are one-person households, a share expected to reach 30% by 2030. The newspaper also reported users’ distress after the features were removed. Research cited by Xataka indicates that, although these relationships may ease loneliness in the short term, they can worsen it later by creating a false sense of connection.

The United States and China have begun discussing a notification mechanism that would allow either country to warn the other about national security risks related to artificial intelligence. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the proposal, but China has not publicly confirmed that it will join.
