Oracle sends force majeure notice for Stargate data center in New Mexico

Oracle sent a force majeure notice to the developer of Project Jupiter, a Stargate data center campus in New Mexico, TechCrunch reported, citing Bloomberg. The notice would allow Oracle to delay payments if the facility misses its target to come online in 2028. Bloomberg’s sources said the company is not seeking to leave as the campus’s main tenant. Oracle told CNBC that the project remains on schedule and that it remains committed to New Mexico; Blue Owl Capital, whose unit received the notice, said it does not change the project’s financial commitments.

The 2.45-gigawatt campus faces obstacles related to its energy supply. An Energy Transfer gas pipeline has been delayed by nearly six months, to February 1, 2027, while permits remain an issue, and an air-quality permit for Bloom Energy fuel cells is still pending. The project also faces opposition from residents and environmental groups.
