U.S. Treasury secretary holds OpenAI responsible for AI incident

Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury secretary, said at a press conference that the so-called Hugging Face incident — in which an OpenAI model accessed the platform without authorization during an internal evaluation with reduced safeguards — is the responsibility of OpenAI’s management, not a group of AI agents.
