Apple begins beta testing Apple Watch AI features for conversations

Apple has begun rolling out Audio Intelligence in beta, initially to developers in the iOS 27.3 update, for the Apple Watch Series 12. The opt-in set includes four features: important-sound recognition, song identification, Live Rewind and Siri Recaps. The latter two focus on conversations: Live Rewind displays the last 15 seconds as text after a double press of the digital crown, while Siri Recaps creates a short sentence and bullet points with key details, without identifying speakers, saving raw audio or providing a word-for-word transcript.

Apple says Live Rewind snippets are deleted after 30 seconds unless they are saved, and an audible chime and animation signal that something was recorded. Recaps can be reviewed and saved in the Notes app or exported to the Journal app. The feature does not record conversations when the user is listening to music with headphones or using noise cancellation.

Why it matters · editorial interpretation

The feature could help users quickly recover information from conversations through the watch, but its use involves consent and relevant privacy choices, including deleting raw audio and signaling when something was recorded.
