Anthropic begins beta rollout of Claude’s Personal Finance tool

Anthropic has begun rolling out Personal Finance in beta this week to Claude Pro, Max, and Ultra subscribers in the US. Through Plaid, users can connect bank and card accounts and ask about balances, transactions, spending by category, upcoming bills, and their ability to save. Claude can also flag duplicate charges, unexpected fees, and rising bills, as well as explain financial terms and calculate interest paid, Anthropic says.

The company says access is read-only: Claude cannot move, manage, or invest users’ money, and it is not designed to provide investment advice. Anthropic says the system can see the bank’s name, basic account details, balances, credit limits, and up to two years of transaction history; conversations in the hub are not used to train its models. The rollout follows a similar ChatGPT tool introduced by OpenAI in May.

Why it matters · editorial interpretation

The tool could turn Claude into an interface for analyzing personal finances, but access to up to two years of transactions makes permission limits and data handling important. Anthropic says access is read-only and that conversations in the hub are not used to train its models.
